Date night from LAX
We flew into LAX on Saturday night — me, my wife, and our three kids. My wife and I had dinner plans, and the kids wanted to go to their grandparents house, and so after meeting my dad who grabbed the kids, the question arose on how to get to the restaurant.
While I had my electric cargo bike parked at LAX, my wife didn’t. She was planning on taking an Uber, when I suggested that she just sit in the bucket where my kids normally sit. After showing her that it would actually be faster to do that than walk and wait for an Uber, and deal with traffic, she agreed.
I put all of my kids backpacks as well as my wife’s into my Burley Utility Trailer and then she climbed in to the bucket in front.
Off we went. For the bike nerd in me, this was akin to picking up my date in my chariot and escorting her to dinner — it was romantic. On a more practical level, it was simply the fastest way to get both of us to where we needed to go. I am always so impressed how amazing the Load 75 handles weight, cargo, turns, and hills with ease, no matter what you’re carrying.
I’ve now been biking to LAX for eight years, and taking my kids and luggage with me for the last 2+ years. It feels like a superpower to bypass the horseshoe traffic, not pay for parking, and have the freedom to just go after a long flight.
